Crystal has been writing all of her professional life. She began by writing training materials while working for a non-profit organization, then shifted to software documentation before starting her own freelance writing business. She currently writes and edits blog posts, website content, newsletter articles, and ebooks for small businesses, and serves as a volunteer editor with The Pixel Project

Crystal is also the author of the self-published book The Achilles Effect: What Pop Culture is Teaching Young Boys about Masculinity, and its accompanying blog, which ran from 2008-2017.  Her work on The Achilles Effect was covered in The Boston Globe, Advertising Age, and Feministing, and she has appeared on HuffPost Live and The Roy Green Show.
