Food Writing

Food writing is a versatile content option with relevance to many businesses.

Whether for a blog, newsletter or advertorial content, food is a hot topic. It’s also one that can be spun in many ways across all kinds of businesses. Here are just a few examples of how different types of businesses can use food content in their marketing:

  • Medical practitioners like physiotherapists, dentists, and optometrists could discuss how particular foods reduce inflammation or promote good oral or eye health.
  • Salons and spas could talk about the impact of particular nutrients on skin and hair.
  • Specialty food retailers like grocers, bakers, and butchers could highlight the nutritional benefits of various products.
  • Garden centres can promote the benefits of fresh herbs and share ideas for how to use them.

With the ongoing prevalence of chronic diseases (e.g. cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes) and risk factors for those illnesses, like high blood pressure and obesity, governments and other organizations are increasingly focused on prevention. Healthy eating is a key plank in their platform of health promotion and a popular topic of discussion in the media. In this environment, food and nutrition content gets attention.

What’s more, food content is something people enjoy sharing. Just look at your social media feed for evidence of that.

Offering your own unique take on food content enhances your authority, draws an audience to your site, and gives you something to share on social media.

Food writing is a niche service I offer. I’ve been writing about food for a long time and have even created a website for my various musings on that subject. Research is a vital part of what I do. With an education in library and information science, I am thorough and efficient when it comes to finding the best resources for a given topic. I always use credible sources and provide citations for each.

To get an idea of how food content can help with business promotion, I invite you to read a few samples from my portfolio. Topics range from food discovery to meal planning and culinary history.

If food is a topic you’d like to include on your blog or newsletter, I welcome you to get in touch to learn more about how it would align with your business. (For information on rates and terms, visit How Freelance Writing Works.)
